I am still very much alive...in case anyone was wondering! It has been an upturned couple of weeks, but I'm still here! Accidentally hit a deer over the weekend, and escaped with minor damages...broken mirror and completely shattered driver window. I drove home from missoula without a window :( Could have been worse, thankfully it wasn't! Lots of changes going on at the bookstore which is mostly what is keeping me away. Good things, or rather should I say GREAT things to come soon, hopefully you will be as excited as I am to see them! Lets just say...long nights in the studio with shawna, and I am covered in paint. Love it! Stayed tuned guys, and I promise I will post something creatively juicey soon!
(New songs on playlist...check out "still alright" by Adam merrin... hence the title of entry today!)

New layout!
I did another layout for the OLW challenge. I really like the picture that I used for it and just needed a good theme to use it for. It is a photo that Chris took on one of his photoshoot adventures! It just seemed sort of surreal to me...I love the deep impact it captured!

The journaling reads: "I love this picture that Chris took, and how the hopscotch numbers appear to go on forever. I am filled with hope that somewhere there is a child who is content to just be. Who is not trying to grow up too fast or skip ahead, but who cherishes the simple moments of their youth."
This was my first go at a 6X12 layout...and I kinda likey!

Scrap Mojo
I know, two posts in a row...I'm amazing! Here is my layout I've been working on for the 1st Scrapmojo challenge! I thought it was so cool, had to try it!

I had a lot of fun with this. I used part of a paper bag, one from paper pals! ( hey, I recycle!) my own chipboard button creations, a little monster feltie and of course the masking tape and bubble wrap! If anyone else wants to try you have until the 15th...go check out their website!
And of course...new editions to etsy from over the weekend!

Speaking of buttons
So we all know I'm slightly obsessed with buttons, in a sort of hopeless and unhealthy way. Lol. Well I have found someone else (The uber talented Jodie) who loves buttons as much as I do...and she is super mega talented too. We are in the midst of sending each other goodies...and I am salivating already. So, I thought I'd let you all drool over her greatness too...
My faves from her etsy:

Can you believe she makes these out of clay? Talk about patience! Check out her etsy and of course her blog...she does a cool flashback Friday segment, which is a really cool idea! Its funny who you meet through the scrap chain! Yay for friends!
I'm working on a lot of things. The going is sort of slow...lots of work stuff that has to be done before next week, housework...and updating etsy! More to come tomorrow...don't forget to say hello to Jodie!

SO, everything lately has just been so busy! I'm enjoying how fast time has flown but still, obviously I'm being a terrible blogger! Here are some snapshots of what life has been like for me...
This second shot is of our backroom last friday...talk about stressed! We have had so much to do over the last few weeks! EEEEEK! I can't lie though, I love the bookstore!

I've been a pretty good hairdresser! Well, at least I think so. Such a pretty shade of red on Ashley! I really like it, just not brave enough to try it before I have to fly to LA for my conference in two weeks.

And, I actually have managed to squeeze in scrap time! So nice too...I'm really on a roll lately. I recently purchased the "WE DARE YOU" book, written by the cast of the Effer Dares blog, and I am really loving it. The middle and bottom layout are my first two dares, positive self talk and safe place. (the picture really doesn't do it justice I think, but you can click on it to make it full screen) It was funny though, because while I was thinking of my layout for my safe place I had a really hard time. It just all of a sudden hit me that books have been a safe place for me all my life. When I was little I was always buried in a book. I am reminded of the collection of essays that Jonathan Franzen wrote called How to be alone, where in it he speaks about books being a land of escape. A place where we are just with our thoughts, and really, there is no safer place, and no place I have ever felt so accepted. When your eyes fall upon that single line which seems to be written as if to say "Really? Me too" and you feel like someone, or something on the page just gets you. Perhaps that is why I aspire to be a writer, to forge that connection with someone, to create that safe place. Anyway, it was a weird kind of ah-ha moment for me. I had never really contemplated that I am in the book business for a deeper reason than I had ever really considered.
