new stuff....
I made some similar buttons about a year ago, but the epoxy was always cracking and the rub ons were hard to find so I stopped. Then...I found the rub ons online, scanned them into my computer and printed them in varied sized on the graphix rub onz paper and duplicated them (quite cost effectively!!!) I got some better adhesive and managed to perfect the paper to chipboard to epoxy ratio...and voila! Much better. I'm super excited because these have always been my fav. Now, I can make many more and hopefully others can enjoy too!

fuzzy cell phone picture...of a small canvas i am working on. I really love it!

Don't forget...its' twitter tuesday! That means new shop promos each tuesday! Do you twitter? Do you even know what the tweet that means? Well, if not, check out the sidebar to the right and follow along!

Etsy review by The Everyday Scrapper!
Hey guys! Sorry, last week didn't get many posts...my bad! But an awesome post to start the week...my shop was recently reviewed by the lovely Samantha (she's got a cute accent) over at theeverydayscrapper! Check out their site...they do podcasts on You tube, have a message board, contests and more! Samantha made some really cool layouts with the buttons, and layered them for a new twist! I love it! Check out the Flickr pool to see them in more detail!

my monday muse is masking tape...
OK, so technically its Tuesday...but I'm posting the Monday muse anyway! I had a terrible migraine this morning...which I'm sure has nothing to do with not sleeping much lately...of course not. it was so bad i had blurry vision in one eye and spent part of the day in my quiet dark bed.
However...here is something I'm totally excited about! Masking tape! And not just ANY masking tape...colored, crazy masking tape! LOVE IT! Anyone want to buy this for me? it's sooooo pretty. I found these lovely etsy shops lovepetitzakkajapan and nothingelegant that sell it.

I can't tell you all the cool ways i would use these! Mini albums and layouts for sure!

The Birdcage Series
I've been really inspired by Kelly's post on "Pretending until we're not pretending anymore." it's her ability to share so much of her inner self that allows us faithful bloggers a chance to connect, to feel like someone gets us, and that they've been there too. It totally affirmed my creativity!
Here are the six paintings I made this week. There are six in the birdcage series. Each one is 6 X 6. I haven't decided whether or not I am going to put them up in my etsy yet. I guess we'll see what kind of feedback I get! These are poor quality...because I scanned them in...haven't yet had a chance to really take good photos with the bad weather.
Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated! Thanks guys!

THE POPCORN BK!!!! EEEEE!

So...my lovely friend Michal totally found this book that I've gone on and on about for, well, years now...on the fine interweb and sent it to me! I remember LOVING it as a child...and my dad used to read it to me when i was about 4. How cool is it that she found it? I am waiting until she gets back from spring break and then we are going to read it together! I'm so excited!
p.s. I don't remember the bear having the Indian feather headband...but it just tickles me even more! (Since we all know I like to bring up my heritage every chance i get...)

peeks...
just a few peeks on some mini paintings i am working on. There will be six all together! They each feature birdcages...and I have to add the text to them. Then I can post better close ups of each image! I am having a lot of fun!

So, don't be shy! I love comments, even if just to say hello! I say...lets all be friends, keep the art community growing ;)
I loved mrs. Denbow's lovely cloud painting, and it inspired me to make my own. i added some mixed media to the mix and I love how they turned out!

thursday tutorial..and then some

Since Embroidery is all the rage lately I thought this would be a cool tutorial to share. It can be found here. I think it would be a cool faux vintage touch for any dress up occasion, or maybe a cool way to jot down the vows at a wedding! Something to keep for later!
Finishing up some projects and then a lovely picture filled post coming soon.
In the meantime...anyone had a chance to checkout the HANDMADE NATION film?

I read the book (several times) over the weekend. I think its so awesome how many people are really trying to promote the handmade lifestyle, especially with the economy the way it is. I feel that having the opportunity to create products for others to purchase is bringing a whole new kind of life into the idea of work. It's harder, I want to say that...no guarantee of money, no "days off" or set work period. I think its a lifestyle, a whole hearted commitment. But I have never felt better than when I am able to rely on only myself, my own ethics and business strategies. I think the opportunity to grow as an artisan is endless. Right now is not a great time to take the plunge into self-employment, but then again...what time is? If you haven't read the book I highly reccomend it! I was totally inspired to just wake up and get to work!

I feel sorta "yuck" today. I think I'm coming down with a bad virus, which makes even crafting kinda miserable. It doesn't help that I am wearing boy's deodorant since mine crumbled into a million pieces. Boys smell funny...
I have a cool tutorial to post tomorrow...so that's exciting. Right now there are a billion little chipboard circles stacked on my desk, drying, waiting to be sealed and hole-punched and showcased ;)

Will return soon....
Sorry for the lack of crafty inspiration everyone. I have been busy this weekend! I am visiting my dad for his birthday! I have all kinds of new creative ideas flowing and hope to get some new products up in etsy next week. I received my box of canvas that I ordered from DickBlick last friday and I CAN'T WAIT to paint those babies! Thank goodness for bulk discounts!
See you soon!
See you soon!

quick note...
It has been snowing all day. I puppy sat for the neighbors, more or less trying to get our dogs to be friends. it was a rough day! Lots of barking, fighting over toys, and whining. Hopefully it gets better.
I am painting, and hopefully can get some pics up soon. with the snow coming down I just don't want to go outside to take pictures! Soon though! I have lots of new buttons.

bE StiLL bE OpEn
A new painting I was inspired to make last night. Still playing around with techniqe and color. I worked on 3, but I only really liked this one. What do you think?
I love this excerpt from "Don't Write: A Reluctant Journal. " by Jen Lee. I feel like sometimes I get trapped in my art, and in my writing. Don't we all get too tied up in the fears of what our writing will bring? or our art? our passion in general? I am just at this place right now where I am really just trying to decide what I like doing in my art. Finding that balance of what feels natural and what i want to achieve visually. I want to combine my thoughts and their power with my art. I think I need to listen to these words more often...
Don’t write.
It’s too powerful.
It might tell someone how you feel.
How you hurt.
What you don’t understand.
Don’t write.
It’s too powerful.
It will show who you are on the inside to the outside.
It’ll blow your cover,
your nice reputation.
Don’t write.
It’s too powerful.
You might hurt someone’s feelings.
People may not like your words.
They may attack you, or abandon you.
Don’t write.
It’s too powerful.
It might give others hope.
Let them know they’re not alone.
It might change minds.
Change directions.
Change the world.
So, whatever you do,
don’t write.

Monday Muse
Got up late this morning...no coffee, no milk. Exhausted, and having a hard time feeling inspired today. Finding the lovely photos below certainly helped! Sorry about all the construction...just trying to update the look a bit. The banner is next! Hopefully the new sidebars are easier to use and well....cooler to look at! I updated some inpso bloglists on the side so if you haven't already, then check them out! Just places I am currently loving.
Exciting news...I am now part of the EtsyScraps street team! Cool! The blog is here. Some very cool shops are part of that group and its going to be a great team to be part of! Also, as you can see on the sidebar...I broke and joined twitter. It's random and unnecessary but I can't help it. It sorta rocks! come follow!
I'm feeling very graphic with my muse choices for today! Hope you enjoy. First are some wallpaper choices. This is serious wallpaper...not the kind you want on all the walls in your room but I think one wall in a studio space or a large chunk framed on the wall would be fab. Gorg. This is the coolest and craziest...

A new etsier I love is the very graphic Sound Revolution printshop. These are really gorgeous in color and detail composition. I would love to have one on the wall! Go check out the shop and blog! The shop is currently doing a charity sale on etsy so hurry and support a good cause!

All right...go be inspired! I would love to know what is inspiring you today...so post some links!
