Photos, Promises, and more

I am going to make some promises for this week... something to hold you over until I am able to overwhelm you with photos!

I promise.....

1. A big etsy update on Friday at noon PST
2. A photo sneak peek of my art walk pretties
3. New buttons that sparkle...literally
4. To fix the Etsy scrap blog, update the links, and have some cool posts.
5. A Photo filled summer...complete with pirate birthday parties, pretty purple shoes, and lovely art.

*Also, we are supposed to hear by the 5th (next week) as to whether Chris is getting a new hotel in Seattle. We've been dangling for months now, just waiting for news, and it's a big dream of ours to live in Seattle. (for me to move back) Please think about us while the big wigs deliberate between candidates...and hope for GOOD news.

For now, here are some mouth watering design photos to keep you inspired and loving the sunshine ;)

An update

Well, I'm back. Maybe not mentally...but I'm rested up and busy as a bee. I recently went to see my dad graduate with his B.A. in Applied Science Technology from B.S.U. (giggle...) he's been a pathologist/radiologist since I was about five but recently wanted to become a Physician's Assistant (he's thinking surgical...) so he's not done with school yet, but I am so very proud of how hard he's worked to go after more education these last two years. He's always pushing himself, and I admire him to no end!

I also spent some time with my mom and brother...who is returning to Iraq this week for his second tour (both voluntary.) He's an Air Traffic Controller in the Air Force and also works for the FAA in Utah but he feels greatly compelled to serve his country...and tho I hate to see him leave his beautiful family behind, and wish he wouldn't go, I admire how strongly he believes in what he's doing.

I usually don't share much about my family and personal life but I'm opening up here in bloggy land. So, once I get some more pictures I will post them.

I finished my first commissioned piece of artwork for my dear friend Kirsten. She's my favorite diva in the whole wide world, and she has a very girly, sophisticated style. We worked together on colors and also incorporating some sort of rose design. Here is the finished piece which I presented to her today...Other things happening this week:

*new buttons coming to the shop
*Artwalk sneak peeks
*buying foxy outfits for Artwalk show, birthday party and Christian's graduation party...you know it.
*More graffiti painting on canvas (yay!)

TED TALK

This video is about 20 min. But it's extraordinary. I have a passion for creativity, for finding the spark of creativity in others and allowing it to surface...because it's something that is not generally encouraged. I've been lucky to have great supporters, great encouragers of my talents. Watch this video. It's worth your time.

I haven't been keeping up with the blog this last week or so. Sorry! i am going to give you some peeks of what has been keeping me away. (well, one of the things) I have been working on a comissioned piece for a friend. That's always hard, you know, because you want to stick to your own style, and also make sure it's something they can stand to look at forever. Or at least for a while ;) So, I ended up totally starting over from scratch after spending time on it and hating it. Sometimes that happens. I am a messy creator, no straight lines. I like things to blur, I like a mixture of straight edges and messy happy accidents. You know...like life. lol. So here are a few peeks. Sorry for the terrible pictures...i'm inside today due to terrible weather.

My Oh My!

I could write a book on the long list of hair mishaps I have had over the years. Yesterday I went in for the usual color treatment. I've done the same thing for about a year, blonde, plum purple and black. When my stylist mixed up the color it look raspberry, and we were both like "this does not look right..." so she double checked it and mixed it again. Same color. What the hell, lets just see what happens...oh dear. This is what happened.

Luckily my stylist is awesome, and we fixed it right away. We figured out the source of dye confusion, mixed the right batch and it's now puple/blonde again. The purple is a little brighter than normal, there are traces of pink and lavender that the blonde is holding onto but it should wash out in a couple days. Here is the after....

On my list of other color mishaps:

*Dad helped "highlight" my hair a week before high school graduation. Result was brassy blonde. (maybe I'll bust out an atrocious picture sometime later!)
*Mom turned my hair the same shade of orange as the infamous pop singer Vitamin C
*I picked a beautiful mahogany brown color that ended up looking like a Dr. Pepper can
*Two days before my brother's wedding a stylist turned the blonde in my hair bright electric blue, after using a blue based black underlayer with blonde. I ended up going from pretty much completely blonde to black. It was hideous. Had to cut a whole bunch off.

So, wish me luck. I might wake up tomorrow and it will be a different color ;)

plant inspired Monday

I am not exactly known for my green thumb...but these inspiring photos make me wish i could actually care for a plant without instantly maiming it. Some of these seem possible...and the flowers might make some pretty wedding centerpieces?
