Because Apartment hunting sucks....

Apartment hunting sucks.

It's been a few years since we've moved, which if you know me-anything longer than six months is sort of a lifetime. We are currently hunting for places in Seattle...even though C's job is not official yet, we're taking the plunge. It's do or die, Seattle or bust. I'm terrified...and thrilled. We've been looking at places online, making a list of people to contact and I am applying for part time jobs...to ensure I can still eat while I make pretty things. I'm not good at starvation, trust me.

So, since i should be looking for apts, but don't feel like it, instead I am sharing some decor lust :) these make me happppppyyyy!

Photo fab

I promised long ago to post pictures. These are certainly not the best, but of course we didn't think to take any during the day with all the natural light and instead captured yellow dim lighting in the lobby for artwalk. I'll go take some better ones tomorrow so that it actually looks like a decent camera took pictures. The artwalk display extended into several areas of the lobby and so in order to bring it together I put masking tape on the wall in a sort of follow-the-dotted-line fashion. This isn't the whole display but some of the pictures were even worse than these...if you can imagine.

I definately want a better one of the large blue piece. It's my new favorite! I took pictures through the entire process of its creation which was kind of fun. It was neat to look at them later and see how it turned out...scroll down to see it from beginning to end. (pictures were taken with my phone so they are not very good and the colors are sorta wonky but you get the idea)

Applied a couple colors with palete knife. Then added blue spray paint...Added navy blue puddles of paint, which sorta look like mold when they form around the spray paint!
Used letter stencil, taped down and sectioned off. Spray painted with white.
Repeated, placed randomly....
Added Avacado green puddles...let form around stencils
More palete knife, this time another purple and a teal color.
Used a Sakura Souffle Pen to draw doodled of threads and stars all over the canvas...Added text with graphite pencil...

Better photos of the painting to come soon!!!!!

Here are a few pics from my bday party. I made pirate cupcakes!!!

I of course came down with a nasty cold last week after my birthday...right before the artwalk, and our dual family visit. I'm still recovering, and was up all night coughing. We are supposed to leave for Seattle in the morning for an official interview tomorrow and I'm still feeling crummy. The pictures we took of the Artwalk setup had poor lighting so I intend to get back later this week and take some better ones! in daylight! I already sold several pieces so I feel really good about the experience :)

The winner of the mini canvas is...............
