Sunday mornings...

The best mornings look a lot like this :) This morning we walked to the bookstore and had coffee before I started on all my projects for the day.

Since we didn't have a tree this year we improvised a little with decor. December sort of slipped past me and all I really had time to do was throw some lights and ornaments on the mantle. The pretty banner was from the lovely Mara May. She's so sweet, and I've admired her mad scrapping skills for several years.

Check out her pretty banners in her Etsy shop! Super cute! Go steal one now!!!

Also, as I work on a couple of new sets of buttons that I'm really excited about...I posted several mixed sets. Lots of Valentine's inspired sets and some other pretty color schemes too. These sets will not be remade/re-listed. Don't forget that the free shipping promotion ends this week!

So much to do

So much to do in such a short amount of time. I don't even know where to start. There's wedding planning to be done, christmas presents to be made and shopped for, supplies to order, plans to draw up (for new button making machinery), orders to wrap/mail, a christmas wreath waiting to be finished and hung, a messy office to clean...it goes on.

Be back soon.

I will be gone until the end of the week...my uncle passed suddenly on Thursday of a heart attack and I am in Utah spending time with my family. I will remember him for his humor, his compassion and as someone dedicated to his family. There have been tears and just as many laughs as we recall our favorite memories.

I will be back Friday evening and all orders will be shipped then.

The search is on

We've been looking for a wedding venue for quite some time...although only recently have we been able to physically go and check out potential venues. Yesterday We looked at two movie theaters, the King Cat and the Grand Illusion in Seattle. We really loved the photos of the Grand Illusion we saw online, like this one:
but upon viewing the space it's TINY! the atmosphere is great, but the lighting is too dark and there is no alterable capabilities.

The king cat and lounge is certainly larger and alterable but doesn't have the cool and grandiose atmosphere of a theater we are hoping for. Or at least it seemed much less beautiful in person than in the below photos. We're dramatic...can you tell?
I will tell you that I want something like this. Those candles on the stage make me gush everytime I see it. i'm not a big flower person, but lighting can create just as gorgeous of an atmosphere. I soooo want this.

So, the search is still on...and time is short! Also, I'm still at square one with the dress. I've seen some ideas of things I like but nothing I love completely. I always seem to like one element of the gown and hate the rest. Or feel it isn't "me". If anyone knows where I can get my hands on a less traditional gown please holla. My thoughts right now are to get one that is easily alterable.I love the chunky vibe of the skirt here, and the way it isn't all one color. Something like this but with a grey and dark purple instead of brown/cream would be cool. I don't know if I would want it as poofy as this one though...
I love the idea of colored tulle here...not these specific colors but the concept. Problem is...I can't visualize it with another style of dress...and I know I want strapless and floor length (at least for ceremony, I'm not opposed to changing into a shorter funkier gown for reception providing $ allows)I wish I could see more of this dress. i love that it's delightfully girl-ish but that I could get away with wearing converse underneath.love the stripes here but I'm afraid of all the poof. Am I picky? Probably. So hmmmmm...I have yet to try on a dress but am already pannicked, discouraged and hoping someone will have a good place to turn. I've been reading reviews of boutiques on yelp and still hoping to find a shop worth traveling to.

New Painting

New painting! This painting was inspired by a conversation with a friend who has been battling illness for several years. Sometimes you wake up and wonder when life got so complicated, when you believed it would be magical.

The original quote "Everything was beautiful and nothing hurt" is by Kurt Vonnegut. I get the feeling there will be more paintings with literary quotations in my future!

New stuff will be added to the shop over the next couple days so stay tuned!
